Stripping
Instead of demolition, we use the more appropriate term: stripping
Stripping of shipwrecks, vessels and maritime installations is done with the latest environmental and safety views in mind and according to all current rules and regulations. That is why we prefer to use the term stripping, rather than demolishing. Hoondert drew up special operating procedures, which are completely in conformity with the IMO guidelines. All resulting streams are transported to recognised end processors. As far as possible, materials and machine parts are reused. A closed mass balance is drawn up for each stripped object. This provides insight into the whole stripping process and each stream is accounted for.
Track record:
- Wreck removal of 38 objects, including two ocean-going vessels
- Jackets
- Jacket and platform Meetpost Noordwijk - formerly REM island
- Dozens of inland vessels
- Dredging engines
Before we will actually start the stripping process, we will remove all dangerous and hazardous substances, such as oil and asbestos. To achieve this, we collaborate closely with our subsidiary Martens Cleaning. This company exploits the harbour reception installation and as a recognised processor of oil and oil-containing streams is specialised in such operations.
